Founder's story
My name is Allan McCoy and I am the founder of the non-profit, Hook, Line & Heroes. My father was a WWII D-day Veteran. I grew up in a home that was taught to respect and honor our military, those in active service and veterans of any war who sacrificed their time and their lives to ensure our freedom. The slogan, “Home of the Free Because of the Brave”, sums up the root of my admiration and respect for every military member.
Hook, Line & Heroes is being created to show respect and say thank you for those who suffer and have sacrificed for each of us. They deserve our respect, honor, and admiration from the time they enlist and for the rest of their lives.

We want to show support and God’s love by providing an opportunity, at no cost, to disabled and post-traumatic stress (PTS) military veterans and heroes to fish with a professional angler and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. We also want them to go home with the equipment needed to take up fishing on their own, a daily spiritual devotional, and a Bible to allow them to fully understand and know God’s love and His plan for them.
The greatest casualty is being forgotten, so understanding that people care and are praying for them goes a long way in healing. Many psychologists say that being in the outdoors and fishing allows those suffering from a disability or post-traumatic stress (PTS) to have an escape from the daily pressures and worries through recreational therapy. Our goal is that each military veteran and hero we serve walks away having had an experience of a lifetime, feeling renewed and loved.
